Cuts & Lather is a family-owned, old-school barbershop with two locations. Jaclyn opened the first shop on Main Street in Williamsville (Town of Amherst), Jacyln’s husband Ray opened their second location on Harris Hill Road in Clarence.
Cuts & Lather barbershop was founded in 2015 to give men and kids a great haircut at a fair price, and that’s still the idea. Every service below is offered at both locations at the same price. Walk in during open hours, or book online with the barber you want.
Men's Haircuts
Every cut starts with a quick conversation about how you wear your hair and how often you come in. Your barber then works with clippers and shears to get the shape right, from short and tidy to longer styles that need scissor work.
Haircut with Hot Lather Neck Shave
Our most popular service and the reason for the name. You get a precision clipper-and-scissor cut (fade, taper or classic), then a clean-up around the ears and neckline with warm lather and a straight razor. The razor finish stays sharp longer than a clipper edge, so the cut still looks fresh a week later.

Haircut
A straightforward clipper-and-scissor cut finished with clippers instead of a razor. It’s a good choice if you’re in for a quick, regular trim.

Low Taper
Fade
A taper keeps a little length at the bottom and blends it gradually up the sides and back. It’s a clean, low-maintenance look that suits work and school. Ask for a low, mid or high taper, and your barber will show you where the line will sit before starting.

Fade
A fade that curves around the ear in a half-circle and leaves length at the back of the neck. It works well with curly hair, textured tops and mohawk-style cuts.

For hair that reaches the collar or longer, and for anyone growing it out. This cut is mostly scissor work, with time spent on layering, weight and shape so longer hair falls the way you want it to.

A bald fade (also called a skin fade) takes the sides down to bare skin and blends upward into the length on top. Choose low, mid or high depending on how much skin you want to show.

An electric foil shaver that cuts nearly as close as a razor, with no lather and less chance of irritation. A good choice for sensitive skin.

Hot Towel Straight Razor Face Shave
This is the full traditional shave. It starts with a steaming hot towel and a face massage, followed by pre-shave oil, warm lather and a straight razor shave. It finishes with aftershave balm and a cold towel to calm the skin. Plan to sit back for a while; most guys say it’s the most relaxing half hour of their month. If your skin is sensitive or you get razor bumps, tell your barber and they’ll adjust the shave.Â

Beard Trims & Line-Ups
A good beard trim is mostly about shape. Your barber sets the neckline and cheek line to suit your jaw, takes bulk out where it’s getting heavy, and keeps the length you want. Tell them if you’re growing it out, and they’ll only clean the edges.

Lots of families come to us, and many kids had their very first haircut in our chairs. Our barbers are patient with toddlers, nervous kids and children who find haircuts hard, including kids with autism or sensory sensitivities. If your child needs a quieter visit, call the shop before you come so we can plan for it.

Questions About Our Barber Services
How much is a men's haircut at Cuts & Lather?
A basic men’s haircut is $35. Our signature haircut with a hot lather neck shave is $40, long haircuts are $45, and bald fades start at $40. Veterans pay $33 for any haircut.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome at both locations during open hours. If you’d rather not wait, or you want a specific barber, book online. Saturdays are busy and we close at noon, so booking ahead is a good idea.
Are all services available at both locations?
Yes. Our Williamsville and Clarence barbershops offer the same services at the same prices.
What's the difference between a Profoil and a straight razor finish?
A Profoil is an electric foil shaver that cuts nearly as close as a razor without lather, so it’s quicker and gentler on sensitive skin. A hot lather and straight razor finish is the traditional method and gives the smoothest, sharpest result.
Do you cut kids' hair?
Yes. Kids’ haircuts are $35 and kids’ bald fades are $40. Our barbers are patient with first haircuts and nervous kids.
Do you offer a veteran discount?
Yes. Veterans get any haircut for $33 at both locations.
